Friday Night at the Stray Dog (July 25)

An impromptu ice breaker was held at the Stray Dog in New Buffalo. Many classmates stopped in for this informal gathering on the top deck. Even some Classmates who could not attend the actual Reunion stopped by to say hello including Rande O'Halloran, Nancy (Hatton) Scowcroft, Norma Bell, Julie (Crakes) Gillete, Nancy (Bragg) Hartline, Roxann (Pappas) Huebl. A surprise arrival that evening was none other than Dave Funk all the way from the east coast.

Saturday Night Reunion (July 26)

The Reunion was held at Whittaker Woods Country Club. The event started at 6:00 with cocktails as classmates and their guests started arriving and reintroducing themselves, some not seeing each other since graduation. Memorabilia from the class of 1978 was on display for attendees to peruse.

During dinner some awards were given out:

• Most Changed went to Tammy Otto and Keith Carlson (pictured at right).
• Least Changed Male and Female went to Mike Phillips and Deb Wehner.
• Fartherest Traveled was Dave Funk, coming from Arlington, VA.
• Most Children – Theresa Carlson.
• Oldest Grandchild – Marcia Kinst.
• Military Service Award – Bob Ferrell.
• The Mr. Clean award (for the classmate who lost the most hair) went to Duwayne Mangold. This this was a stretch as Duwayne still had most of his hair, it seems that the men from the Class of 1978 kept their hair pretty well.

A Video Presentation, produced by Lisa (Pasula) Kellogg was shown during dessert. It was a wonderful way to remember those not in attendance at the reunion. In all, twenty-five classmates along with fifteen guests were in attendance including another surprise guest, Marge Putzke who was a faculty sponsor for the class of 1978.

And when Whittaker Woods closed, those still remaining went back to the Stray Dog. The DJ for the Reunion was also at the Stray Dog sitting at the bar feeling dejected. He was overheard to say AI tried everything to get that group out on the dance floor but all they did was mingle and talk.@
