The Southshore Concert Band (Benton Harbor - St Joseph area) honored former NBHS Band Director Arnie Lesser during its 2002-2003 season. Arnie taught music at New Buffalo High School for 11 years before becoming chairman of the music department at Lakeshore High School for 23 years. While at Lakeshore, he also directed the pit orchestra for the Gateway Players' world amateur premier of OLIVER! in 1967. Arnie died this past summer (July 24). NB students of all generation know his work – he wrote the music for the Bison fight song.

The band honored Lesser during its winter concert on Dec. 8 in the Mainstage Theatre of the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center, Benton Harbor.
