Joe Debiak New Buffalo High School Class of '83
Joe went to Western Michigan University to continue that dream of being a professional baseball player. Unfortunately, arm trouble and surgery in his junior year ended those aspirations. On the up side Joe did meet his wife (Amy) during that same year and graduated with a B.A. in English and Communications.
Joe's love for music (always the guy on the bus with the boom-box) also prompted an interest in DJ'ing live events, which has evolved into a multi-crew wedding reception disc jockey service that he operated while living in the Kalamazoo area. Now Joe works as Advertising Director for the Herald Bulletin in Anderson, Ind., a northeast suburb of Indianapolis.
Baseball has remained a signicant part of Joe's life. In the early ‘90s, he was head baseball coach for Schoolcraft High School (3 years) and Nazareth College (2 years) before ‘stepping up’ to coach his oldest son's "T-ball" team. Now, he coaches Little League and is raising two athletic boys bringing them into the game early. Joe still finds a little "hardball" time for himself playing in a men's summer league.
