ALUMNI IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Jim Svejda – Class of '64

Although Jim is one of the most respected, critical voices in the classical music field, he also is one of the most entertaining and popular program hosts on public radio.

He has been delighting KUSC (Los Angeles) listeners since 1978 with his witty, meticulously crafted essays on diverse composers, conductors and artists – and his commentary on a wide range of other subjects that attract his musical fancy. He is the host and producer of the nationally syndicated radio series The Record Shelf, which is carried by some 200 public radio stations. Locally, it's broadcast Sunday mornings from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. He also is heard on KUSC weeknights from 7:00 p.m. to midnight.

Jim is also a noted film critic. His reviews are broadcast on the CBS Radio Network. He lives in Sierra Madre, California.
